Top Tools for Repurposing Content

You’ve just created an amazing piece of content, now what?

One of the worst things you can do is just stick it up on your website and then move on to the next piece of content.

This is why so many bloggers and biz owners are overwhelmed with their content marketing strategy.

They spend too much time on creating content and not enough on execution and repurposing.

Using different tools and apps can make repurposing your content way easier and faster.

In this post, I am going to walk you through a few tools for repurposing content. The easiest way to do that is to go through the process I use when I create a new piece of content for my business.

Check out these top tools for repurposing content for your blog or business. These tools will help you to save time and make it very simple to promote your content to grow your audience.

I’m not going to talk about all the AMAZING benefits of repurposing your content because you can read about that here.

I am going to walk you through my process and the tools I use to promote and reuse the content for my blog.

When I create new content, my main source is always a blog post.

No worries if yours is something else.

You can start with any type of content and then use the tools that I am going to share to repurpose it and promote it as much as you can.

I’ve been blogging since 2011 so blog posts have always been a primary medium for my content.

TOP TOOLS FOR REPURPOSING CONTENT

Step #1 - Main source of content

I like to call this your ‘hub.’

This is your main course of content: blog posts, videos, podcasts, livestreams, etc.

Always start by creating YOUR main source of content.

Like I mentioned above, I start by writing a new blog post. There is an entire system to how I write and the workflow I follow, but I do this in Google Docs.

Here’s a writing hack I like to use when I am being lazy and don’t feel like typing.

Step #2 - Canva

This is one of my FAVORITE tools to repurpose content.

There are so many different ways that you can reuse and recycle your content using Canva. I could do an entire blog post on just this one tool alone.

Canva is a free design tool that you can use to make just about anything for your business.

Once I have created a blog post I will head over to my Canva account to create multiple pieces of content for just this one blog post.

I use it for things like:

Instagram Graphics

I will pull out pieces of my content (literally copy and paste them) into a graphic in Canva or create an image and use the text from my blog post as the caption.

This saves a ton of time!

Instead of trying to come up with new content for my Instagram account I just pull information from my blog post and use it to help promote the content.

I normally will make 3-4 images from one blog post that I can use to promote this content on Instagram.

I used Canva to design all of my graphics for Pinterest.

I will normally make 3-4 different images to help promote my content and drive traffic to my blog.

Step #3 - Teleprompter App

After I have written the blog post, I will copy the text and upload it into the Teleprompter App so I can record a video from that same piece of content.

Teleprompter App is an app that I purchased on my iPhone.

They do have a free version, but when you record and download the video it will have their logo on it.

Since I record videos on my phone I like to use the Teleprompter App as an outline for what I need to say.

Not only does it make editing easier because I don’t have as many mess-ups because I have a script to follow.

Making a blog post into a video is a very powerful way to repurpose your content because it allows your audience to consume the content in a different method.

I’ve done this to create YouTube videos and IGTV videos.

Step #4 - VideoShop App

Once I have recorded the video on my phone, I will then edit it inside of the VideoShop App so that I can use it on different platforms.

The first thing I do is edit it for YouTube. Once I have the video how I want it, I will then edit it for other platforms by resizing it.

Doing this makes it super easy to post on IGTV or smaller clips on Facebook or even my Instagram feed.

Step #5 - Scheduling

I personally use Smarterqueue, Tailwind and Planoly to schedule my content.

Automating your social media posts will not only save time but allow you to consistently promote your content on your different platforms.

  • Smarterqueue - I use this to schedule posts on my Facebook pages. Instead of just promoting the content once you can schedule it to go out as often as you want to keep promoting that piece of content.  Create multiple types of posts: Enticing text with a link, graphic with text or even copy a chunk of the text from your blog post and upload it into Smarterqueue.

  • Tailwind (affiliate link)- This software will save time by scheduling your Pinterest content, but it also has a tool to help you create different images to promote your content.

  • Planoly - Once I am done with Canva, I will upload all of the graphics into Planoly to schedule them to go out to my Instagram account.

Other Tools for Repurposing Content:

  1. Rev - Rev allows you to convert audio and video to text. If your main source of content is a video then Rev can help to transcribe it into a blog post.

  2. Headliner - This app will help you to quickly and easily promote your podcast or videos by creating short snippets for your social media platforms.

The key is having a system in place to repurpose your content and then using tools and automation to make it easier on yourself.

If you are just getting started with recycling your content, choose 1 tool and see how you like it before trying to do everything.
