3 Myths About Creating Consistent Content

When you hear the phrase consistent content in terms of your blog or business, what do you think of

Posting daily?

Stressed with feeling like you are always going in circles because you don’t have a plan?

Being overwhelmed with creating so much new content?

It doesn’t have to be a painful task that you are just checking off your to-do list.

Creating consistent content for your business is crucial to your growth and building a relationship with your community.

Creating consistent content doesn’t have to be hard. I am sharing 3 myths about creating consistent content that are holding you back from growing your business.

When you show up consistently for your audience and deliver amazing value a bond will start to form. They will start to trust you and get to know who you are and what you stand for.

This is why it is so important that you have a content marketing strategy in place so you can show up for your audience in a way that feels good to you.

Today, I want to bust 3 myths about creating consistent content so you can push through the roadblocks that are holding you back.

Myth #1 - You have to show up daily

When most people think about creating consistent content they instantly think they have to post daily or show up everywhere they can online.

This is not true.

Consistency means something different to everyone. I have yet to find someone that has ‘cracked the code’ to an exact amount you need to post per day or per week to get a specific kind of result.

One person could post a few times a week and grow their business, while someone else could post once a week and also grow their business.

It’s about finding what works for you and your audience.

Figure out what showing up consistently means to you.

How often do you want to show up?

How often can you show up and create content?

What’s important is that you decide on your schedule and you stick to it consistently.

Not only does keeping a consistent schedule help to build your brand, but it will also start to build up your credibility.

Myth #2 - You have to create a lot of new content

Consistently creating content doesn’t mean that you have to create something new every single day.

I think this myth primarily stems from people who try to build their business using just social media.

In that case, you would feel pressured to post something new every day because of how fast-paced social media platforms are compared to having a hub for your business.

When I say hub I just mean your primary method for creating content.

This could be blog posts, videos, podcast episodes or even livestreams. This type of content has a longer lifespan and doesn't require you to create something new each day because you can repurpose it in multiple different ways.

Read more about repurposing:

When you have hub content you can expand your reach by using that same piece of content and recycling it to attract more people instead of wasting time creating something new again.

I am always coming up with new ways that I can promote my content. I only spend about 20% on creating and the other 80% on promoting and repurposing.

Myth #3 - It’s hard to do

Honestly, this myth is what is most likely holding you back from growing your business.

You believe that showing up and creating consistent content is too hard so you don’t even try.

The key to making it so much easier on yourself is having a plan.

When you plan ahead and you know the steps to follow when you create new content it will guide you each day on what you need to be doing.

It doesn’t have to be an extravagant process, but something simple and repeatable.

I personally like to create a system using Asana so that I don’t always have to worry about the next step.

If you are sitting there reading this thinking that creating consistent content is hard then I challenge you to spend 30 minutes drafting out a plan you can follow.

Here are some ideas of what to include:

  • Where will you promote your content?

  • How can you repurpose it?

  • What day(s) will your content go live?

  • What day(s) can you block off in your schedule to create and promote your content?

  • What content can you batch?

  • What content topics will you create for the upcoming month?
